We picked him in up 2004, he was sitting for sale on the side of the road looking all sad. The previous owner was a body man by trade and he and his son did all the body work when they lived in Northern California. After they moved here, the son decided he needed something with A/C to handle the Desert Summers and Clyde went up for sale.
He needed some work when we got him home. The bodywork was in pretty good shape, but a lot of the mechanicals needed to be refreshed. Read more… »
In the summer of 2007 former Chirco employee and long time Tucson VW enthusiast Jackson Clarke passed away suddenly. He was a fixture in our shop and in the community and he is greatly missed. Though very tragic, his untimely death initiated one of the coolest events ever. One of the local clubs, The Dry Heat Panzers (DHP) put together an annual cruise to honor Jackson’s memory. The best part of the entire event was that it became Tucson’s first open to all clubs VW cruise. The local clubs, DHP, The Daily Driven Dubz and We-R-VWs put aside their minor differences and they all joined together to cruise to Bisbee (90 miles from Tucson) in honor of Jackson. He would have been extremely proud of the community coming together for him and continuing that togetherness to this day.
Chirco is proud to say that we support all VW clubs, local or not. We too are proud of what has become of the Tucson scene, and we are proud to remember Jackson in this way.
Here’s the video. Enjoy!
