i know some of you guys have bought these lights.  i was wondering what size the threads are on them?  i mounted up my license plate with some brackets that accept 3/8" bolts.  i was wondering if these lights could fit on the same brackets or if i needed to buy some tabs to screw onto the brackets and then mount the lights to the tabs.

Need to make the tabs jg Smiley ,here's why Wink :
Same lights as I used Cool

What's not Sad shown in this pic

is the fact that the wires which power these lights run through & out the bottom of their mounting stalks, which means that even if the threads on both were the same you'd have to end up drilling all the way through the add-on brackets

& into the frame tubes & run the wiring to them from within the frame tubes which,in part, was what you were trying to avoid in the 1st place along with welding tabs & repainting.
What I used were just 2-1/2" ID radius EMT clamps

from

bolted to the frame & an external harness to each light ziptied to the frame Wink .
Your setup Cool

also presents another problem in that you're running a removable engine cage on a semi-full bodied car = those lights(& their wires) are gonna be dedicated to that cage seperate from the rest of the body of the car,so you're gonna need to make some quick-disconnects between the car & the cage in order to be able to service(remove) the engine & trans if neccessary:

Tight Wink rubber grommets  Wink .

Oh Yea!! Tongue I guess we have to have a way of disconnecting the the wiring to the bumper. I need two connectors with two five contacts each.

from page 10 Shocked of http://www.chircoestore.com/catalog/smf/index.php?topic=4895.225  Cool Wink .

good tips.  i used a different set of clamps.  these here which have a hole in them for the light wires to go through.  i got them because they are cheaper that buying 2 of the other kind.  lol

i was thinking of just using zip ties to hold the wires to the the tubing and then just cut the zip ties if i needed to remove the rear cage part.

i'm also toying with the idea of just putting stock lights on the fenders so i may just go that route.  plenty of vw junkyards around here to get them from.
