Good stuff coming here folks.  Students in AC3 (Air Cooled Cienega Cats) at Cienega High School in Vail, Arizona, have 4 VW project cars, and two destruction derby vehicles.  As their teacher, I will get things started here with pics and stories, about what is going on in this student club, but then let the students themselves run the show.  Wink

Sounds like an awesome project!!  Teach the youth of today to revive a dying breed.  Sorry stole that from our club motto.. But it is too sweet!!!  Keep it up!  headbang

Don't tell the kids that each door pocket in a Thing can hold a six of cans and a bag of ice!

YES! We take donations!  We prefer VW stuff, but will take anything we can sell.  We write the donor a letter listing their donation to the school - very simple.  The donor puts the value on the part/cars for their tax deduction.  This is the only way we can roll - totally funded by the community.  Joe Chirco does his share! He is very gracious with advice and discount pricing for the kids.  Thank you Joe!  AND  Jon Bol answers questions all the time - he even took time to come over to the school and showed them how to build the motor in our Ghia project.  Thank you Jon!  Grin

The students have been busy over the summer.  They put the finishing touches on the AC3 Baja and then parked it at Chirco, where it sold for 3800 cash.  The cash will be used to buy supplies for the various car projects - especially the '68 Dragster Bug.  Also building an electric '72 Super along with our Impala and Ford Truck Derby rigs.

Sorry to tell you the focus on the Electric Bug has shifted to a Solar Powered Go-Kart.  We will "race" three other school projects on April 14th, 2012 over at the U of A Tech Park.  This is still going to be a cool project.  We started with a standard frame- the kids are cutting the heck out of it.  I will post pics next week of the progress.

So what was the result of the "race" and how is the drag project coming?
