She wasn't concerned as those were old, but she didn't. I gave her a pair of latex gloves just after this photo too. She used those to press the grease into the joint. Grin

I am sure to get some thumbs ups and thumbs down on these next few pictures. Shaun and I were debating what to do about the louvers under the vent. We decided to cut them out and replace it with sheet metal. I think I like it! headbang

We received stencils from the VMAQ-1 squadron. The screaming banshee is the mascot. We etched the rear window glass with the banshee. It's a home run in my book!

"I am sure to get some thumbs ups and thumbs down on these next few pictures."
Can't see a thumb down there Andy Smiley ,just maybe a precaution Wink :
This pic

shows that the front engine seal plate(#12/13) and it's associated seal(#20) and whatever portions of the side shelves(#14/15's) along with whatever cut up strips of the engine bay main seal associated with them(#19) missing

In lieu of direct ducting fresh air from the now closed grill to the fan as we had discussed earlier I'd install those plates & seals in your case to at least help prevent/redirect heat shed from the #'s 1&3 exhaust pipes/trans from having a chance at a direct shot at the fan intake Wink .

Buggyman, you were just the person I was thinking about.  Wink I am working on some ideas for the fan intake. I hadn't forgot about your suggestion but I didn't want to look at the mess that was under the vent. We'll get something figured out. Thanks again BM. Beer

It wasn't that difficult. The most difficult thing to do was transfer the vinyl stencil to the glass. I had extra rear glass so I decided to try it myself with liquid chemical etching cream. With the tempered glass you have to leave it on 10 minutes rather than 5.

"....Thanks again BM......

Oooo, he hauled me over the coals for calling him BM sometime ago - look forward to his repsonse this time around.

However, other than that, man I am very impressed with what you're doing and the speed that it's progressing - in the time it's taken you to effectively restore/rebuild/create a full baja, I haven't even completed an engine swap on my race buggy - so either you've got way too much time, or I'm just a slack b*st*rd - I think probably the latter  LOL_Sign

Keep it up, looking forward to the finished ride (as no doubt are you and many others) .... Kimbo

Now that's what I call a good look - ad the fact that the mum in the background appears to be wearing a seethrough top with no bra makes the whole scene just .......... awesome.

I believe I will have to pass on the "snorkelstang" mods.  Shocked I need to give this some thought though. We'll figure out something. Stay tuned for some new pics tonight. The baja bumpers are back from the rhino guys and when I drove by the paint shop at 10 last night, Shaun was still there airbrushing! Can't wait to see. Have to wait till after work. Banghead

Ok... I have a lot of stuff to show you. Sorry for the long post.  Grin
My dad ordered these along with the breather port. Chirco sell these and they are awesome. The pictures do them no justice.

Rhino bumpers look awesome! headbang

I took the etching to another level since I had a bigger stencil and extra glass. As much as I liked the others, these are much better!

Here are the stencils to be used by the paint shop. These are the exact font used on the prowlers. The six digit tail number is Buddy's birthdate in military format (April 18th, 87)

Paint on the next post.

Ok there are two coats of the dark ghost gray base, followed by masking for sheet metal lines and 2 coats of light ghost gray. Note the outstanding job the did getting rid of the rear vent! Rivets will are being airbrushed tonight. They will be on both sides of the lines.

Removing the masking

I have to say, I got choked up looking at the vid and pics.  Y'all did a fantastic tribute to Buddy and his life.  I'm not USMC, but from a USAF guy,  Semper Fi Buddy!!! And to all of your family, you should be proud.  Great job!!
