Hey everybody,
  I've been surfing your forum for a few weeks now and must say that I think it's awsome. I recently got a 73 beetle from a friend of mine and am interested in making it a Baja while still haveing a reasonable commuter. I'm almost ready to start the teardown and could use any tips,info,ect.. Thanks and I look forward in being part of your forum.

**Also I have found somebody local who has alot of Baja parts ( 4 point rollcage, bumpers,ect.) that were for a 67 beetle. Would any of them be usable on my 73,thanks again**

It's tough to tell for me from those pics, but that looks like a curved windshield and superbeetle hood. Is that a strut I see up front in that first pic?

If it's got a strut front end it's a super. You don't want to baja a super, the front end tends to taco. Perhaps a nice german looker instead? You've got a good start on it there.

IT DOES HAVE STRUTS IN THE FRONT SO DOES THAT MEAN IT'S A SUPERBEETLE?

IF SO WHAT DOES "the front end tends to taco" MEAN AND IS THAT THE ONLY REASON NOT TO BAJA IT?? THANKS

Taco=bend=crappy for off road.

It can be Bajaed but it is alot of work and useually not worth it. It looks like a great street car. Keep it or sell it but it would be better to find something else to Baja.

Seriously though, if you want a baja, try and flip that super and go buy a standard, preferrably one with linkpin front suspension ('65ish and older). If you want to keep the super, there are several street looks that  would do it justice.

Hi FUBAR Smiley ,
Have you checked comparable listings on http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ & your local http://www.google.com/#hl=en&gs_rn=12&gs_ri=psy-ab&cp=14&gs_id=1i&xhr=t&q=craigslist+auto&es_nrs=true&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&oq=craigslist+aut&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.&bvm=bv.45960087,d.cGE&fp=aa79a65a7ecc42a7&biw=1264&bih=824 or http://www.superbeetlesonly.com/forum/index.php?act=home ?

Make sure it's still running Wink , clean the beejeebers Cheesy out of it as best as possible Wink to make it sellable.
After doing that consider maybe renting it out for a profit towards improving it as a high mileage/gallon alternative car Cool Wink .

Anyways, it's back up in the spotlight here now as eligible for sale so let's see what happens headbang .
