Are we going to have a Baja section again, Don? As the dates get closer I want to see if other Bajas want to do a trailride before the show.

I'll be making the trek from "beautiful" Clovis, New Mexico (unfortunately the USAF put me here and not at DM).  Is the Saturday BBQ and cruise open to all, or is it a Tucson club event.  Either way, I'll be there with my 59 Rag.  I can't wait!!! Grin

The entire weekend is open to all.

I wanted to share a letter I got from the American Cancer Society this week.

*****************************************************************

August 9, 2008

Dear Supporter,

This letter is to confirm the fundraising collaboration between the Dry Heat Panzers and the American Cancer Society.

The Dry Heat Panzers will be participating in the Chirco Car Show on October 19, 2008. On October 18, they will be conducting a Cruise Across Tucson, where they will be collecting contributions to support the American Cancer Society. All contributions are tax deductible and a formal letter of receipt will be forwarded to all contributors.

Your contribution ultimately helps the American Cancer Society support its mission to eradicate cancer as a major health problem. Thanks to decades of work in scientific research, prevention, early detection and improved medical treatments, we have turned a corner in the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.

In addition to our valuable patient services, the American Cancer Society has been the leader in the fight against cancer, having funded 42 Nobel Prize winning researchers. The strides we have made toward the cure have been possible because of the generosity of our loyal donors and the untiring philanthropic efforts of local businesses and organizations in our caring community.

If you would like more information about these or any of our other programs, please feel free to call anytime at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit our website at www.cancer.org.

Thank you for your contribution and for supporting the American Cancer Society. Your generosity is very much appreciated!

***************************************************************

The cruise is of course open to all cars as well.  The DHP guys will be helping to organize that portion of the weekend.  The Daily Driven Dubz guys have met with Don and pledged their support for the actual BBQ and the show which we think is a fantastic thing.

This thread will be updated on a regular basis with developments as we start to ramp up for the event.

talon2load, I would love to meet you while you are out here.  We are honored to have you at the event.  We appreciate your service and your sacrifice.

Man, where do you find the time for all the stuff you do? You must have a set blue tights with a red "S" on the front!

Lemorris? you still need PX crew to pull caravans down? We're down, just let us know. I'm hoping to come down early enough sat to do the cruise too, depends on whether or not BBQ help's needed.

Just holler.

I will be in touch FIE

we're hoping many of you will join us for the cruise and of course lend a hand at the show.

We will coordinate that effort through the D3 Tucson guys as well so they are up to speed on what the plans are.

Rick...I don't have time...I just keep doing...I'm a one trick pony...it's all I got.  Smiley

More very soon...I agree with Don...this will be very fun and very memorable.

Oh!  Don...we need to discuss trophies and that whole go-go dancer thing you were talkin bout.

(joke...there's no trophies)

I will be at Bugtoberfest even if I can't get my cooling problem solved!!   I plan on trailering my car to Tucson (try a nine hour drive with a wife and 2 kids in a 59 Rag with no DVD player... wife would drive me NUTS!!!  Grin)  I'll be staying @ Davis-Monthan (USAF benny) but if it takes me to McGyver my car using a toothpick, half a shoelace, a wooden match, soda straw, and a gum wrapper, I WILL DRIVE my car to Chirco's!!!
I Know I am dating myself now (stationed in Tucson from '85-89), but do people still cruise Speedway?  I will be there Friday night, so if any V-Dub clubs have a cruise nite then (and the don't mind an outsider stuck in the armpit of New Mexico joining them), I would love to hang out.

By the way... I am VERY sad about no Go Go Joe Joe... but this IS a family event.
At least Joe has less grey hair then I do, but he STILL recognized me after almost 20 years of being away from Tucson (a true testament of Chirco customer relations... and at least half of my paychecks as a young airmen!!  Grin).  Really... Chirco is TOPS in the V-Dub world!!
